Citizens' Arrest
IF you reasonably believe that a person has committed, or is committing, or is about to commit a crime, then you can make a Citizen's Arrest on that person, and you are allowed to use exactly the same ammount of force that a lawfully acting Police Officer would be able to use in those circumstances. In other words, you are allowed to use REASONABLE FORCE IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
There is NO SET FORM for making a Citizens' Arrest, except to say that the person(s) arrested would normally be taken to the nearest available Police Officer as soon as reasonably possible, and the alleged crime would be reported to the Officer.
A "Crime Reference Number" should be obtained from the Officer.
